Case Review - Private Residence - Wausau, WI.
SYNOPSIS
The current owner of the residence contacted investigator Blaschka of the WPRS (Wisconsin Paranormal Research Society) concerning possible paranormal activity at that site. The residence is located on the west side of Wausau, Wisconsin. The home has been in the possession of the family since 1941. The house itself is about 100 years old. Blaschka was offered the opportunity to perform an investigation at the site to determine whether any paranormal activity is indeed occurring there. Blaschka agreed and decided to investigate the site. Blaschka was the only one allowed from the WPRS to investigate the site, as the owner was not comfortable with the entire team being present in the home. The investigation occurred on February 3rd, 2003.
PARANORMAL ACTIVITY THAT WAS REPORTED A non-recorded interview session was conducted on February 2nd, 2003. The current owner relayed the following possible paranormal activity to investigator Blaschka. All of the activity listed has occurred in or outside the building between September 2002 and February 2003. This information was noted and recorded for investigation purposes. Strong feelings of a presence felt both inside and outside of the home. Feelings of a presence felt most strongly by the living room window nearest the television set. One witness experienced a very strong smell of sweet perfume near the area of the television set shortly after entering the premises. The odor was reminiscent of a perfume used by the prior deceased occupants. This happened only once on 1/30/03. Moments later the witness returned to the exact spot of the odor but it was no longer was present. A neighbor witnessed the apparition of the prior owner outside her home about two weeks after her death. INVESTIGATION RESULTS The investigation of the residence located on the west side of Wausau took place on February 3rd, 2003 from approximately 10:00AM to 2:00PM. Investigator Blaschka was present. Currently no one is living at the residence and water service to the dwelling has been shut off. During the investigation one roll of high-speed color film was shot in and outside all areas of the building. No unexplainable anomalies were captured on film. Several temperature readings were obtained and all seemed to be within normal range, 58 to 62 degrees. The entire building was scanned with an EMF meter and four (4) areas had unexplainable spikes on the meter. The readings recorded shot from a normal static reading of .02mg to an extremely high reading. Investigator Blaschka could not recreate these anomalous readings. The locations of the anomalous readings are as follows: Living room by television set, hallway leading to the bedroom and two separate spots in the bedroom area. In theory readings such as these can constitute the presence of paranormal activity. Blaschka could not explain reasonably how these readings occurred. The property is located on a flood plain and it is possible, though not probable, that underground water may have produced these unusual readings. Blaschka also conducted two separate sessions of EVP. One session was conducted in the bedroom and another was conducted in the living room. No anomalies were noted during the EVP sessions. In conclusion the WPRS has not ruled out a possible natural explanation for the anomalies that did occur on the premises. However, what has been noted, can not be reasonably explained at this time. Further study may continue at this site as long as it is possible. Update 06/06/03 It has been reported to the WPRS in the last month that further activity has been experienced at this residence since the initial investigation on 02/02/03. The following new activity has been observed since February 2003. Very strong feelings of presence felt in the living room, bedroom and hallway leading to the bedroom. Music box that was located in the home that no longer functioned began to play by itself for no apparent reason without explanation. While current owner was working in the living room area by herself, she experienced a strong presence seem to move from the hallway area to directly behind her. The owner also heard what she explained to us as a rush of wind behind her. At the same time the owner observed a shadow pass over her field of vision, almost as if someone had just walked behind her. While a family member was working in the bedroom area of the home a Window had been opened for fresh air. When that person announced to another family member that they would be leaving and asked if they should close the window up, the window slammed shut on it’s own.
On June 6th, 2003 WPRS members Roll and Blaschka were once again allowed access to the property for further study. Upon arrival the entire home was scanned with EMF meters. No anomalous readings were obtained anywhere in the home. Also an EMF Natural meter was placed in the hallway leading to the bedroom. WPRS members held a silent observation/vigil to see if any readings would occur. Also they did so to see if any field observations could be possibly observed. No anomalies were noted during this part of the investigation. Due to a lack of any possible paranormal evidence, the WPRS decided to go no further with this particular investigation. All of the activity above could have a reasonable explanation and is not necessarily paranormal in nature. While it is noted that item #4 above is unusual, it is possible that a breeze from the exterior of the home or a passing vehicle caused the sound that was heard. Also the shadow that was seen may have been a reflection cast from a passing vehicle as well. The property is located on a corner lot and traffic if fairly frequent. As far as the presence that was felt, the WPRS can not reasonable explain this anomaly at this time. No further investigation of this sight will be done as the building is due to be razed. *Any use or reproduction of this documentation is prohibited without the sole permission of Shawn Blaschka and the WPRS.
