History

We contacted the client per their request in March 2019 regarding paranormal activity occurring at the site during the past 2 years. The property is a family vacation home located in Vilas County Wisconsin. The land and surrounding area that the dwelling is located on was once a thriving lumber mill town. A great many accidents and drownings have occurred at the site over the years. The area was heavily logged and occupied from the 1860’s through the early part of the 20^th century when heavy logging began to phase out. The lot itself was purchased by the clients Grandfather in 1944 for $50 and the original cabin, which was a converted railway box car (purchased for $16) was placed on the lot in May 1944. The client’s Grandfather and Grandmother used the cabin as a vacation home for many years. Her Grandfather died in 1949 and his wife dies in 1980. Neither of them passed away at the property.

After their passing the client’s parents took ownership of the cabin. In 1992 the old cabin was razed and replaced with a modern structure. The only remaining original structure is an old pump house from the 1890’s that has been converted into a guest cabin. The main cabin is adorned with various items from the original cabin.

Due to client’s parent’s age, they were no longer able to keep up with the demands of maintenance of the cabin. So in 2017 the client and her husband purchased the property. It was shortly after they took ownership that they began to notice unexplainable activity.

Paranormal Activity Reported

The family has been experiencing the following activity since taking ownership of the property in 2017.

In the summer of 2018 a guest using the bathroom in the cabin heard the kitchen sink faucet being turned on and off many times while he was in the bathroom. This was followed by footsteps. No one else was in the cabin during the event.

On the same evening as the event above, while visitors to the cabin were away, a chair on the dock changed its position. The chair made a complete 180 degree turn and ended up on the other side of the companion chair. No one could explain its movement reasonably. It was not windy or stormy at the time.

Client woke up at 2AM one morning to the sound of a woman’s voice coming from the living room. None of the words were discernable. When she went to the living room the sounds stopped. This occurred in October 2018.

Client’s husband woke up at 3AM one morning and noticed the figure of a man standing in the adjacent hallway. After a few moments the figure dissolved away. The image of the man seen is thought to be the client’s late Grandfather.

Client’s friend stayed in the converted guest cabin one evening. During the entirety of the night she was able to feel a strong female presence blocking the doorway to the cabin. The guest was so uncomfortable that she was unable to leave the cabin until the presence subsided hours later.

Family reports a strong feeling of presence at the cabin that comes and goes.

Investigation

Blaschka, Williams, Reynolds, Cruz, Vanprooyen and Hertel arrived at the property on May 18, 2019 at 4:00PM. We met with the clients and they did a walk through with us while explaining once again the activity they have experienced. The family then vacated the residence so that we could begin our investigation. On this case we brought our mobile command trailer, so we began by placing our DVR camera system throughout the residence. Camera #1 was placed facing the living room area. Camera #2 was placed in the master bedroom to capture a view across the hallway where the client has seen an apparition. Camera #3 was placed facing the kitchen/dining room area where the sink faucet has been heard to be turned on repeatedly. The cameras were monitored through most of the evening via the mobile command trailer. We also placed a REM POD in various areas of the residence throughout the evening during our EVP sessions. Two vibration sensors were placed in the hallway between the bedrooms but not utilized continuously through the evening as to allow access for the clients to use the bathroom.

We left the property from 7PM to approximately 8:30PM in order to eat dinner. During that period of time the cameras were not monitored but rather reviewed upon our return.

Several digital photographs were taken of all areas in the residence. We also conducted several EVP sessions during the evening. Sessions were conducted in the living room, dining room, master bedroom and adjacent bedroom. One session was conducted in the guest cabin.

The entire residence was mapped and baseline readings were taken with an EMF device and infrared thermometer. Temperature readings were between 68F and 80F degrees. EMF readings ranged from 0.00mg to 50mg. The higher readings were in the kitchen near major appliances and electrical outlets. All the readings were static in nature and completely normal if not low compared to most homes.

We occupied the residence all night and spread out in the house during our sleep period. Investigation was concluded at approximately 2:35AM. The following morning we packed up our gear and left the property at approximately 8:00AM.

Conclusion

The results of our investigation left us with some questions instead of answers. We reviewed all of our EVP sessions and they revealed nothing of any importance. We did experience a strange disruption in the electromagnetic field in the kitchen for a brief period during the evening. I am at a loss to explain what may have caused those readings. Review of all of our photographs did not produce anything paranormal in nature. We spent a great deal of time reviewing the DVR camera footage and several things were noted during the review. Several times during the evening we captured the curtains moving as if they were slapped in the center by unseen hands. After checking with our layout of the home it was determined that it was nothing more than the furnace kicking on that caused the movement. At approximately 7:52PM what resembled a flash of light was observed on camera #3. When reviewing camera #2, the change in light can be seen against the wall adjacent to the kitchen. Further review showed that as the light of day decreased the camera automatically switched on its infrared light, which caused what appeared to be a flash of light. This also caused the wall to light up on camera #2 due to the projection of the infrared lighting from camera #3. We also captured on camera #3 a very strange set of lights. This occurred three times during the evening, once at 7:52PM, again at 7:53PM and also at 8:45PM. The lights seen resemble a ribbon of energy that move from right of camera to left, almost as if it had purpose. The energy band can be seen moving throughout the living room area and then exiting the screen again to the right. The same behavior was noted during the other times it was captured. What we do know is that it was not a reflection or refraction of light nor a malfunction of the camera. We thought that possibly the anomaly may have been caused by a piece of hair on the camera housing or a cobweb. The IR light refracting off of these items at close range could possibly create the effect seen on our camera. We tested that theory with both a hair and cobweb but neither of them were even remotely close to what was captured. I have never seen this before and am unable to explain it reasonably so I have to consider it possibly paranormal at this time.

Also worth noting are some of the psychic impressions that one of our group sensitives picked up on while at the property. Her impressions are as follows:

At the property I could see a female entity. When I first entered she was over by the old redone chair in the family’s living room. When the owner came to visit with us that evening, the female entity needed me to tell her to “get her things out of my house”. The female entity wished to be remembered in some way in the cabin. She seemed upset that the two women from the minnow house were but she was not. The spirit also did not agree with alcohol consumption at the cabin. Once the female entity communicated her message, I could no longer sense her. Since the investigating I have done some research on what I experienced. I believe the female entity (their Grandmother) had an energetic cord still linked to the family’s cabin. When spirits have this type of connection, it is not released until it is resolved for them. Her expressing her wishes allowed for that cord to be released. It is my professional opinion that they will no longer see the Grandmother in that capacity again.

The feelings or psychic impressions above are not scientific in any way but we feel they can aide us in determining what or who may be at the property.

The client’s grandmother was known to be a very exacting, with a very amiable personality. It is surmised that possibly the activity started only a few years ago due to change in ownership and the client’s personalization of the property. This combined with the historically rich and sometimes traumatic background of the area could lend a hand in the activity as well.

Based on what evidence we have collected I feel that the site has paranormal activity. More investigation would be warranted to come to a better conclusion.
