Calumet Theater - Italian Hall - Tamarack Mine #4 Synopsis See previous report from 3/20/21 for full historical information on the Calumet Theatre and Italian Hall disaster. Photo of the Tamarack #4 mine shaft tragedy attached below.
Investigation The WPRS was graciously invited back to the Calumet Theatre to conduct a secondary investigation on 5/10/2024. Team members that participated in this investigation included Investigators Blaschka, Beaudry, Duginski, Kasper, Christiansen, Brown and Brazier. The team decided to conduct a multi-investigation and visit a few other historical sites that held its own tragic past in Calumet. Before the overnight investigation at the Theatre, the team visited the site of the Italian Hall disaster and the Tamarack #4 mine shaft tragedy. The team started off visiting the site of the Italian Hall disaster. Only the stone archway remains on the vacant lot set as a memorial for the 73 people that passed away December 24th, 1913. The team used Tri-field EMF detectors around the archway and property to look for any changes in the electromagnetic field as they read out the names of the deceased. The Tri-field meter picked up no irregular changes in the environment. The second stop was the memorial site of the Tamarack #4 mine shaft tragedy. The mine shaft is now completely sealed over and a security fence is surrounding the mine. In 1988, the mother of Ruth Ann Miller was granted her last wish to have her ashes interred on this site to be with her daughter. The team paid their respect to both Ruth Ann and her mother. During that time, EMF readings were conducted with the Tri-field EMF meter and received several extremely high milligauss readings, as if something was following us around the security perimeter fence. The team could not find a reasonable explanation to the high electromagnetic readings. The WPRS team ended the evening with the overnight investigation at the Calumet Theatre. During this investigation, the team was granted access to the attached court room and fire station. These areas of the building were used as the temporary morgue during the Italian Hall disaster, holding the bodies of the 73 that tragically passed. Equipment used during this investigation were night vision DVR system cameras, digital and full spectrum cameras, digital recorders, Tri-field, K2 and Rem Pod EMF meters, vibration sensors, motion detectors, Kinect 3D image SLS camera, SB11 spirit box, Tripwire EMF meter and thermal camera. DVR night vision cameras were placed facing all angles of the stage and seating areas, including the upper balconies, court room, fire station and stairwells of the theatre. Motion sensors and Rem Pods were placed on the stage, court room and fire station. Vibration detectors and an EMF trip wire was placed on the stage. During the course of the investigation, team members walked through the entire location and took numerous pictures with both standard and full spectrum cameras. Team members broke off into smaller groups to conduct several EVP sessions around the theatre, including the court room and fire station. The team also used the Kinect 3D image SLS camera system and thermal camera during sessions on the stage, court room and in the fire station. The EMF trip wire was placed on stage with vibration sensors in hopes of detecting Madame Helena Modjeska while classical plays were being played audibly for a trigger effect. The team broke off in separate locations around the building to bunk down for the night after the investigation concluded, in hopes of a personal experience.
Evidence Italian Hall Disaster- No strange EMF readings or personal experiences. Tamarack #4 mine shaft- Several extremely high EMF milligauss readings were detected around the security fence when acknowledging the tragedy of young Ruth Ann Miller. • Calumet Theatre- After reviewing the plethora of photographs, audio and video recordings no true evidence of paranormal phenomena was captured. Only one video clip had an anomalous orb shape moving in an unnatural movement in the dance hall. This orb did not float or move like dust or water vapor particles in the atmosphere, but in a more distinct fast edgy movement that left a light trail behind. The team had no personal experiences, no EMF readings or other equipment readings that could indicate paranormal phenomena. Calumet Theater Orb Footage - Click Here
Conclusion C Comparison between both investigations at the Theatre in 2021 and 2024 did not lead to an abundance of evidence collected. The evidence and personal experiences were intriguing and possibly in the realm of paranormal, but a forgone conclusion that the phenomenon exists can not be validated. The Calumet Theatre has a long rich history of famous playwrights, actors and performances to grace the stage, it also has a notorious history of tragedy from the Italian Hall disaster. The theatre is a beacon of Calumet and the history rivals only to the beauty of the theatre. It’s a possibility that spirits with strong emotional attachments could still be lingering within the walls.
