 Private Residence in Wausau Wisconsin

Synopsis

The structure is a well maintained home built around 1900 and located in a middle class neighborhood. The client purchased it and moved into the residence in March 2013.  A few days after moving in they began to experience possible paranormal activity in various areas of the home. During the past few months the activity has occurred a few times a week. Currently the client is living alone with her pets as her husband is in the service and deployed.

The family is curious as to what may be occurring in their home. They do not believe in the ability to have an afterlife so this activity if paranormal really puts into question their current belief system.  They wish for us to debunk some of the activity as well as validate some of the claims. They also hope that we can calm the activity down or stop it all together.

Paranormal Activity Reported

Activity occurring in the home includes:

·        Strange unexplained noises are heard throughout the house.

·        Window in the upstairs bathroom opens on its own.

·        Cupboard door in the first floor hallway opens on its own.

·        Shadows seen out of the corner of your eye.

·        The smell of burnt plastic has been detected near the landing to the basement steps.

·        The sound of the upstairs bathroom cupboard door opening and closing on its own has been heard. Once checked it is found closed as it has been previously left.

·        A book that was placed on the end table in the living room was found moved to the floor after the client returned from a walk with her dog.

Investigation

The WPRS investigated the home on Friday April 26, 2013 from approximately 7PM to 12AM.  Investigators Blaschka, Beaudry, Duginski and Coates were present.  The client gave us a tour of the property and explained where the above activity had occurred in the home.  The walk thru of the property was recorded with digital audio recorders.

Basic equipment used during the investigation included digital cameras, digital voice recorders, Tri Field Electro Magnetic Field (EMF) meter, a 4 channel DVR camera system, K-2 meter, Infrared and Full Spectrum cameras and infrared/ambient thermal probes. We placed our DVR cameras throughout the home. One was placed in the living room toward the area were the book had been moved, the second camera was placed in the basement area, the third camera was placed in the dining room and the fourth camera was placed upstairs near the bathroom.

We began by obtaining temperature, EMF readings and a sketch of the floor plan.  Also many infrared and full spectrum photographs were taken in various areas inside the home. Several digital photographs were taken throughout the house.

The second floor had temperatures between 68 and 70 degrees, with EMF readings between 0.2 and 0.5 Milligauss.  The main level had temperatures between 63 and 67 degrees, with EMF readings between 0.2 and 3.0 Milligauss.  The basement temperatures were between 50 and 55 degrees with EMF readings between 0.2 and 15.0 Milligauss.  There were no Geiger readings obtained during the evening.  During the collection of our base line readings we found no anomalous EMF or temperature variances.  We did find one area on the 2nd floor that presented us a very high reading. It was near the washer and dryer area on the floor directly in front of the appliances. We are not sure what was causing the high reading but we do know that it was static in nature, meaning it was not paranormal.

After our base readings were collected we formed a group of three investigators to perform EVP sessions in the basement, in the living room and in the upstairs area. One investigator always stayed behind to monitor the DVR system for any activity. We switched out the camera monitoring person during each EVP session and only one session was conducted at a time to avoid the chance of noise contamination. Upon later review of our EVP evidence we found several recordings that may have produced evidence of paranormal activity. During our session conducted in the basement we captured a disembodied voice twice asking what sounds like, “who”. It is interesting to note that we had just stated to the spirit that if it had any message for the client it should make that known. We captured this recording on two separate recorders and also heard it with our own ears.  We also captured an EVP in the staircase leading down to the basement. The sound is that of a female and it sounds as if she is moaning in disapproval to our entry to the basement area. The last EVP we captured was in the living room area and the sound was that of a creaking wood floor, typical to what you would hear if someone were to transfer weight onto a loose board. No one was moving at the time so we are at a loss to explain this sound.

We captured several photographs and upon there review we found nothing abnormal. We also did not find anything remarkable when reviewing our DVR footage.

We had a few personal experiences during the investigation. Our researcher Beaudry had his hair pulled when first entering the basement area. We did inspect the area and found nothing that would have caused this sensation. The incidence was when we were first setting up our equipment. We had removed our Ovilus in the living room and plugged in all the wires only to find it moments later unplugged.

During the investigation we spoke out loud several times to whatever presence may happen to be in the home.  We laid out ground rules about what the family would like followed.  We relayed the fact that the clients are uncomfortable with certain activity and asked that they abide by these basic rules when the clients are residing in the home.

Conclusion and Recommendations

Upon review and consideration of all the evidence collected we feel that it is likely that the clients have been experiencing paranormal activity. It also seems that it may be more active in the basement area. However it may also be that the entity moved to the basement area while we were present in the home.

It is likely that the family is experiencing an intelligent haunting. This type of activity is indicative of the experiences that the family has been experiencing. We have validated some of that activity thru the EVP’s that we have obtained and through personal experiences. Ninety five percent of the activity that has been reported is typical of this sort of haunt. We do not feel that what is present in the home is harmful. The basic cure for this type of activity would be to have the family talk to whatever is there, lay down ground rules and coexist with that spirit.  Generally things will quite down and the family will be more at peace and no longer frightened. We will be available to the family to help assist in this process so that the family can live in harmony.
